History of Vishay Hardware Parts:
Vishay was founded in 1962 and was founded by Felix Zandman. They have gone through many acquisitions to include names such as Dale, Draloric, Sprague, Vitramon, Silicon, General Semiconductor, BC Components, and Beyschlang. The original products the company developed were foil resistors and foil resistance strain gages. Vishay started off as a startup company and today is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components. In 2010 Vishay was listed on the New York Stock Exchange: Vishay Precision Group (NYSE: VPG). Their products are used in virtually all types of electronic devices and equipment in the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, power supplies, and medical markets. Vishay has manufacturing plants in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Israel and as well as sales offices worldwide. One of the reasons they have been a successful company is because of their R&D process engineering and product marketing programs. The program they have developed helps designers create new generations of end products such as wireless charging systems, tablet and ultra book computers, electric power steering and start/stop systems for automobiles, energy exploration equipment, and wind and solar power systems. Some of their important areas of new product development include MOSFETs, power modules, and miniaturized packages for TMBS and FRED rectifiers, power inductors, custom magnetic, high-power current sense resistors and various mid- and high-power capacitors.
About Vishay Hardware Parts and Its Product Range:
The product lines consist of semiconductors and passive components. For the semiconductors there are three segments that include: MOSFETs Segment, Diodes Segment, and Optoelectronic Components Segment. The MOSEFTs Segment includes low-voltage trenchFET power MOSFETs, medium-voltage trenched power MOSFETs, high-voltage planer MOSFETs, high-voltage super junction MOSFETs ICs, power ICs, analog switches. The diodes segment includes: rectifiers, small-signal diodes, protection diodes, thyristors/SCRs, power modules, and custom modules. The optoelectronic components segment includes infrared emitters and detectors, optical sensors, infrared remote control receivers, optocouplers, solid-state relays, LEDs and 7-segment displays, infrared data transceiver modules and custom products. For the passive components, the company offers two segments: resistors and inductors segment and capacitors segment. The resistors and inductors segment includes: film resistors that include metal, thin, thick, metal oxide, and carbon film resistors. The wire wound resistors include braking and neutral grounding resistors and custom load banks, power metal strip resistors, battery management shunts, chip fuses, variable resistors, network/arrays, non-linear resistors, NTC thermistors, varistors, magnetic, and connectors.
The capacitors segment includes tantalum capacitors, molded chip tantalum capacitors, coated chip tantalum capacitors, solid through-hold tantalum capacitors, wet tantalum capacitors, ceramic capacitors, multilayer chip capacitors, disc capacitors, film capacitors, power capacitors, heavy-current capacitors, and aluminum capacitors. The passive component brands they carry are Vishay BC Components, Vishay Beyschlang, Vishay Cera-Mite, Vishay Dale, Vishay Draloric, Vishay Electro-Films, Vishay ESTA, Vishay Hire Systems, Vishay Huntington, Vishay Roederstein, Vishay Service, Vishay Spectral, Vishay Sprague, Vishay Thin Film and Vishay Vitramon. The resistors the company provides are used in all electronic circuits to restrict current flow. They also manufacture non-linear resistors, which suppress voltage increases due to temperature and voltage changes as well as potentiometers, trimmers, sensors, and resistive transducers.
